Maybe you have a letter you have written........
Tena koe David
As you are one of the MPs who voted against Support Staff I take it you do not have children or if you do, they are not of school-age because no parent that I know would ever vote in support of the destruction of a major player in the Education system.
Why do you think they are called Support Staff? Because they support the teachers by doing all the mundane but very important things teachers are unable to because they trained to teach not do the accounts or administer the office. They don't have time to clean a child who has soiled him/herself, make all the necessary phone calls to parents and carers, look for lost clothing and sometimes, runaway children, make lunches for those who haven't any and all this for a pittance. Have you tried living on $12.94 per hour? Not very easy when you have rent to pay and people to feed as not many Support Staff are in the fortunate position of having full-time permanent jobs and a great many are the bread-winners and very proud people who bleed blood and cry tears when hurt.
I am asking that you look deeply into your conscience and ask, "Is this really what I want to see happen to good people or am I trying to curry favour with Bill English?"
Did he not utilise the services of Support Staff? Oh yes he did!!
Forget about pouring money into the very wealthy sporting groups and look after those who look after you. Why should we have to do the same jobs for nothing should we lose our positions?
I look forward to your reply (a genuine one please).
