Sharyn Gibbons commented on Ann Hoglund's blog post 'Rodney Hide'
Hi Ann I wonder if it is worth some support staff out there writing to Rodney and asking him what he thinks teachers aides get paid?  Did he give up his salary on the day and work for the salary that support staff get?  Does he know how…

Rodney Hide

I think this gave a good insight into the work of Teacher Aides, forever engraved in my mind will be Rodney skipping around with his arms out. He entered into the spirit of it all and I would say he learned a lot, well done to everyone involved with getting him there, it helps raise the profile of Support Staff at a time when it is needed.

Hello from Christchurch

Greetings from CHCH and many thanks for all your good vibes that are being sent our way, it is beyond belief down here, people are just in shock and disbelief as to what has happened to our beautiful city. I am very thankful that my family and myself are all safe, our thoughts go to Sue Nimmo whose son has been displaced with very bad damage to his home, and to Gaye whose neighbour is currently still missing in one of the affected buildings. We can only support each other at this difficult…See More

Welcome Back and Paid Union Meetings

Hello All.  I hope you all had a smooth transition back into the new school year. It has been a busy week this week for me, yesterday we had a mini Support Staff conference at which I had the opportunity for an NZEI slot, I spoke to the attendees about the importance of attending the upcoming PUMs and also had a pop quiz on Know your Agreement, I think a lot of people went away more informed about what is in their agreement.Just a reminder to everyone about the importance of attending the PUMs…See More

Ann Hoglund replied to Jenny's discussion 'Teacher negotiations'
Hi Jenny I can assure you, we are a priority. There is a process whereby we submit claims to the government before the agreement runs out, this falls into the timeline . The negotiating team will be meeting in the next couple of weeks to go over…

Welcome Back to Term 4

Welcome back everyone, I hope those of you who got a break had a good one, it was great to see many of you at Annual Meeting and WOW wasn't that powerful, our silent protest to the minister. We need to continue supporting our primary, Early childhood and principal colleagues with the difficulties they are having in their negotiation processes, and the budget cuts in ECE. Remember we will be facing our agreement negotiations in March next year. Keep up the recruiting - a unified powerful front…See More

Support your Teacher Colleagues

Please remember to support your teacher & principal colleagues as they have their meetings around the country and in their worksites to decide where to from here with the difficulties in their negotiations. They supported us last year during our time of difficulty, so words of encouragement from you would, I'm sure, be greatly appreciated.
