Joanne Vaughan (Jo) commented on Gaye Parlane's blog post 'Rodney Hide - being a Teacher Aide'
I agree that it was a great show, and also agree with Sharyn; it did not give an accurate picture of what a teacher aide does.  It was very good feed back for special education and the picture it gave for specialised schools.  Rodney…

Yes it was a good show, however I am concerned that it didn't give an accurate picture of what support staff have to do.  I also didn't really like the condescending way Rodney spoke to the students. Would love to hear what others…

Rodney Hide - being a Teacher Aide

What a wonderful insite for all New Zealanders to know just what a Teacher Aide in a school actually does.  Every Politician needs to spend time in the classroom working alongside school staff whether special needs or behavioural issues,  the role of a Teacher Aide is responsible work and they need to be paid and recognised appropriately!  Teacher Aides  - THANK YOU and continue with the great work you all do to help our young people.  Well done to Zac Markham you were awesome!!!See More

Support Staff at the 'Fairness at Work Rallies"

Well done to all Support Staff who attended the protests against the 90 Day Bill all around the country over the weekend. It was good to see the "sea of pink" out in force again. I was in Wellington at SSNCKT and we very proudly carried the NZEI banner from NZEI building down to Civic Square. There was a large crowd there supporting many unions. Well done Support Staff we certainly know how to protest!!!!See More

You are so right about what you are saying Gaye. I enjoyed getting names on the petition when we were at New Brighton on market day and I was surprised how easy it was.

Just wondered are you coming to our Support Staff Network event on Monday night 22 March? or are you busy in Wellington.
